You have a lot to consider, here is the entire process: In your case, since you did not indicate what version of QWin you are using, review all the prep and background info before. NOTE: Be aware that at this time, it is very difficult to convert back from Mac to Windows, as there are many problems with the reverse conversion process. I also suggest that you make sure that Quicken 2017 for Mac will meet your needs, since it was re-written from the ground up (starting in 2010 with Quicken Essentials) and is not the same product as the Windows version, so there are some features that are still not there e.g. Loan amortization, 2-line display, QuickMath, auto-backups, or are not as fully developed yet, e.g. Customized Reports, investment lot management and performance reports and stats (therefore some data may not carry over).
To keep track of all the requests for features that are still missing in QM2017, I highly recommend that you browse through the IDEAS section of this forum and VOTE for the request of each of the missing features to be added back into Quicken for Mac.to help direct the priorities of the developers. To do that, I suggest you read this FAQ on how to filter the IDEAS to just show the ones for the Mac version, then VOTE to your heart's content: The following are some of the many feature requests you will find:. many requests for configuration options and many others. Be sure to scroll down the page, as some contain lists of related features. Click on the link to EACH IDEA separately that you are interested in, then click the VOTE button at the top of EACH page that opens up respectively to increase the count and therefore its visibility to the developers.
If you do not click VOTE at the top of the page of each feature, your vote will NOT be counted for THAT specific feature! (If you find this reply helpful, please be sure to click 'Like', so others will know, thanks.). This is all good information. I have tried to make the transition, and have been running the in parallel since both 2017 versions were released. QW2017 has font and icon size issues running in Parallels, but so did QW2016. The font size and look and feel in QM2017 is beautiful, tho many Mac users of older versions seem to object.
QM2017 does not have two line registers, but has columns that are editable. Everything was imported with out much of a problem, tho I did have to reenter a lot of passwords. There are two little things missing in QM2017, that I can get over, but a third I cannot. The little things are that there are no icons or indications that there are items downloaded that need to be reconciled.
You can find them tho in All Accounts and filter for needs attention. And, you cannot order the accounts; they are all alphabetical. So, someone suggested numbering them; that works. The deal breaker for me is that stocks are handled FIFO or LIFO. As the end of the year approaches where I may want to sell only certain lots of stock to balance gains and losses, I cannot.
I can see a fix on the horizon (not soon enough) since the program still has maintained the lot identifications in the register. If there is a work around, I have not figured it out.
So, if lot trades were not an issue, I would have moved. BTW, you can apparently by both and drop out after 60 days, which is what I plan to do, since the EOY is just about 60 days in case lots come into play. Hope that helps. As an aside, this forum and the input from several of the superusers and Quicken Marcus is laudable. It is s different company. Glad it was close for you. Sorry it was not close enough.
